Municipal staff will be delivering of quarterly information reports on construction of the Chatham-Kent Community Hub.
At their most recent meeting, members of council voted unanimously in favour of a motion from Ward 6 representative Alysson Storey, asking for financial, schedule, and site status updates on the Hub. The reports will also be posted on the Let’s Talk municipal webpage. The original motion called for monthly updates, but with a friendly amendment from Councillor Melissa Harrigan was reduced to every three months.
“In the past as a council when we’ve monitored large projects like this, we’ve had quarterly reports and I find that that kind of fits the balance of being very transparent but also not putting an added too much of an added burden on staff to kind of pull those reports in time for council,” said Harrigan.
Councillor Storey is hoping for more transparency with the project with the report including “milestone markers comparing the approved project budget to real-time costs” in an easily understandable and clear language format.
Staff said any urgent updates would be shared as they happened, with the quarterly reporting starting immediately and running until the project is completed.
