A Chatham woman contacted police after a frightening hacking scam yesterday. The woman was on her laptop when she was suddenly kicked out of the computer and saw files being opened remotely. Then her home phone started ringing. She picked up and a man, claiming to be with an anti-fraud company, offered to fix the computer virus for a hefty fee. The woman hung up but the stranger kept calling back. She soon realized she was no longer able to make outgoing calls. The woman unplugged everything and got a hold of police.
