Police are investigating the sudden death of a Chatham man following an incident on Delaware Nation at Moraviantown.
The Ontario Provincial Police said officers were contacted on July 25 shortly before midnight after a man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
CKXS News has learned that the identity of the victim is 33-year-old Tyler Cartier of Chatham, who died two days later on July 27, according to his obituary.
Investigators believe Cartier may have been injured as a result of an incident on River Line within Moraviantown, however, the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
The Elgin County OPP Crime Unit is working to determine what occurred, with assistance from the First Nation police, the Chatham-Kent Police Service, the OPP’s West Region Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and Forensic Identification Services.
Anyone who was in the area of River Line the evening of July 25 is asked to review any surveillance or dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation. Those with information are asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
