Impaired driving charges have been laid after police stopped a speeding vehicle in Dover Township.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers stopped a vehicle on Base Line Road at around 5 p.m. on Saturday after it was seen traveling at a high rate of speed.
After speaking with the driver, officers formed grounds to believe that she was impaired. The driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where a drug recognition expert conducted an evaluation.
As a result, a 27-year-old London woman is now charged with driving while impaired by drugs, speeding, failing to provide insurance, and driving without a vehicle permit. She has since been released with conditions and will answer the charges in court at a later date.
