A Tilbury man has been arrested in connection with the vandalism of the Veterans Memorial Crosswalk in Erieau.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers began an investigation after a pickup truck defaced the crosswalk by doing a burnout and leaving tire marks at around 2 a.m. on July 25.
Investigators used CCTV footage and information provided by the public to identify a suspect. A warrant was then issued for the man’s arrest.
The 19-year-old Tilbury man was located and arrested on Saturday and is now charged with mischief over $5,000. He was later released from custody and will answer the charge in court at a later date.
