A Chatham man will have to answer to a judge in court after allegedly wielding a kitchen knife in a threatening manner.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service was called to an address on Grand Avenue West in Chatham at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday regarding a weapons complaint.
Authorities said a man was seen standing near the entrance to a property while holding a “kitchen-style knife.” When he was approached by security, the man threateningly brandished the knife.
A suspect was located and arrested without incident after officers arrived.
A 39-year-old Chatham man is now charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breaching a probation order. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
