MOODY: Gordon Lee
Moody, Gord webA long time resident of Blenheim, Gordon Moody died peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Village on the Ridge. He was born in Elgin County, 86 years ago on May 20, 1928, son of the late Dwight & Ruby (Kennedy) Moody. Beloved husband of Eileen (McQuiggan) Moody. Loving father of Catherine & John Mallory of Chatham, Linda & Rick Johnston of Guilds, Judy Campbell & Jim Vidler of Blenheim, and Patricia & Daniel Dauphin of Blenheim. Proud grandfather of Jason & Jillian Mallory, Eric & Liana Mallory, Gary & Amy Pook, Randy & Julie Pook, Brandon Campbell & Madison Woznow, Justin & Kathleen Campbell, and Jordan Campbell & Cora Vandehogen. Cherished great grandfather of Harrison, Anderson, Rachel, Brady, and Julie-Ann. Dear brother of Blake & Bernice Moody of Tillsonburg, Shirley & Robert Franklin of Tillsonburg, and the late Gerald Moody. Also survived by his sister-in-law Joan Moody of Woodstock, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gordon was born and raised on the family farm near Eden, Ontario. As a young man he worked in Blenheim and then Chatham for Ontario Hydro until his retirement in 1986. Also, Gord served as a locally elected Blenheim Public Utilities Commissioner for many years. Gord built his own home from scratch and loved to spend time in his woodworking shop building toys and furniture. He had his own picture framing business and maintained his own apartment building. Gord was an avid collector, gardener and hobbyist. He rebuilt his 1968 Camaro, and enjoyed many roadtrips. Gordon applied his skills to assist in repairs at a Christian youth camp and held his faith strong. He was a Gideon and spoke at many different churches, when called. Many will remember Gordon’s storytelling and his dry sense of humour.

Gord’s family are very grateful for the excellent care he received from Dr. Len Prins, Mary Kay Kitchen and her staff at Village on the Ridge, Dr. Jim Wheeler, and the many people who cared for him at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in recent months. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday October 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Mike Wood of Ridgetown Baptist Church officiating.
