If you were wondering where the auditors were for last night’s Annual General Meeting of the Sydenham Hospital, you aren’t alone.
According to Sheldon Parsons, it was only hours before the meeting that they knew the auditors would not be coming, and that their absence has upset the board:
“We’re disappointed that the auditors did not appear to present their report and their findings,” says Parsons. “They did report to the board and we were satisfied, but it’s incumbent upon the auditors to present to the membership. So quite rightly the membership has tabled that and we expect the auditors to come and speak with (the membership).”
The appointment of the auditors will occur at a later date, once they have presented their report to the board members.
