The Chatham-Kent Quilter’s Guild and Chair Heather Loucks were honoured last week for their work on the barn quilts in Chatham-Kent.

Loucks explains how the guild got involved:

“We were approached by the Longwoods Trail Committee – they have become the Ontario Barn Quilt Trail Group – and they asked if we would be interested in continuing the trail from Thamesville through all of Chatham-Kent and we agreed.”

The Guild designs the quilts and the colour schemes, and each block measures 8ft by 8ft.

There are now 30 barn quilts in Chatham-Kent, placed on historic areas of significance from the years 1750-1850.
