Hundreds of Harry Potter fans gathered at the South London Chapters Bookstore last Saturday for the release of the 8th story in the series.

Robert Watson, Headmaster of the Harry Potter Society of London, Ontario organized the event in partnership with the bookstore.

Watson says these events are great for kids and adults alike,

“It’s a great place for kids and families to come out, especially if they’re new to the Harry Potter fandom. It’s great for people to make friends. We have a lot of people who’ve said that it’s great to come out to these events and make friends, because a lot of them are introverts, but Harry Potter makes them an extrovert. It’s one of the fantastic things about the Harry Potter universe.”

The Harry Potter Society of London, Ontario also holds many other events throughout the year:

“We do monthly Harry Potter themed events. We have a Yule Ball coming up, a picnic in August, and the Society likes to keep the fandom going. It’s not just for people in London- it’s for everyone across Southwestern Ontario.”

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was released at exactly midnight last Saturday.
