Chatham-Kent Police are looking for witnesses after an officer was dragged by a moving vehicle.

Authorities received a complaint about an erratic driver on Richmond St. around 10 o’clock Wednesday night.

An officer on patrol spotted the vehicle on Lacroix near Grand Ave East and had the driver pull over.

The suspect refused to turn off the car, and when the officer tried to reach in to grab the keys, the man accelerated, dragging the officer about 10′.

The officer was able to get free without being seriously hurt, and gave chase in his cruiser down Sandys St.

The suspect eventually pulled into a parking lot and fled on foot.

A warrant has now been issued for the 46-year old’s arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
