After just two months of operation, the municipality’s newest walk-in clinic is already looking to expand.
Erin Beecroft is a Registered Practical Nurse at the Good Doctors clinic in Chatham, and says it’s a great addition to an under-serviced area like Chatham-Kent.
“We currently just have one assessment room, but we’re talking about expanding to there assessment rooms,” Beecroft says. “Normal wait times for a family physician when you don’t have one is about two years. We’re having a hard time getting doctors to come down here, so this is a great system.”
The clinic uses the Ontario Telemedicine Network, linking the nurses on-site with doctors to write prescriptions and set out a treatment plan, including referrals to specialists or getting x-rays, blood work or ultrasounds when necessary.
