Splash-Pad-10The grand total keeps rising following a community drive to support building a splash pad in Wallaceburg.

Local residents and businesses donated over $5,300 yesterday, with another $7,500 coming from Myers Insurance.

Committee Chair Chris Young says everything is on track to have the site built and ready to open by next summer.

“Kids will be splashing on that pad by the end of the school year next year,” promises Young. ” By July 1st 2017, Canada’s 150th, we will have a splash pad in Wallaceburg.”

Young says while a full layout hasn’t been nailed down at this point, they have their eye on several pieces of equipment and other amenities.

The committee has received almost $118,000, with a goal of $200,000.
