Many less fortunate kids in Chatham-Kent will have all the tools they need to start school next week, thanks to the United Way’s Backpacks for Kids program.
Coordinator Mary Symons says even though donations were down slightly, she’s quite pleased.
“We are able to have 80+ volunteers to assist with the program,” says Symons. “It’s been very successful, we’ve estimated 1,200 backpacks this year.”
Parents who pre-registered in Wallaceburg and Tilbury will be picking up their backpacks today.
