Traffic should be flowing across the Kent Bridge by the end of the day.
Following a diesel spill in mid-September, Director of Engineering and Transportation Adam Sullo says the clean-up and subsequent reconstruction went very smoothly.
“Work has gone extremely well, we were able to get a contractor on site as quick a we could, and the weather ha been extremely favourable,” Sullo says. “Our concern with this time of year is typically you see a lot more moisture, especially as the temperature starts to drop we start to run into problems with that.”
Sullo says there may still need to be some work done at a later date, but it won’t require a full closure.
Meantime, officials expect to have all four lanes of the Parry Bridge in Chatham open by next Wednesday, October 12th.
The Keil Drive span is still considered an active construction zone with load restrictions in place until the end of the month.
The bridge has been under construction since the beginning of June, wreaking traffic havoc around Chatham.
