The Lambton-Kent Middlesex MPP says with an aging population, stories like this hit close to home for everyone.

“We have heard concerns over the last number of years, they’ve been raised a number of times at Queen’s Park about the protection and safety of our loved ones in long term care homes,” McNaughton says. “I trust and I encourage that the government will work closely with the police to ensure any identified steps are taken to prevent such a tragedy in the future.”

Elizabeth Wettlaufer of Woodstock has been charged with first degree murder in the deaths of eight people at nursing homes between 2007 and 2014.
