The local Salvation Army Food Bank is getting $1,200 in food thanks to the hard work of a local family.
Melissa Sherk says when her dad’s 60th rolled around, it was time to do something special, and raise some money for the community.
“I did something very similar for my wedding where in lieu of wedding favours, we donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. We talked about different things that we could do to specifically impact Wallaceburg.”
Sherk says local businesses donated items that they raffled off at the party. She says it went so well, they plan on doing it again next year.
