Charges have been laid after a Thamesville man allegedly tried to avoid the watchful eye of the OPP.
Monday evening, provincial police had set up a RIDE check around Lambton Line and Florence Road, when officers spotted a vehicle do a u-turn and drive away.
Authorities gave chase, but the suspect vehicle turned into a nearby private laneway and got stuck in the snow trying to drive over the lawn.
As they approached the vehicle, the officers say the driver was trying to slide into the passenger seat.
The man was taken to the Petrolia detachment for breath test, and has now been charged with careless driving, and slapped with a three day driving suspension.
