Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls says 2016 was a busy year, but one issue stands out among the rest.
“the biggest one of course is the hydro rates, and how they have been affecting our residents in the Chatham-Kent area over the past year,” Nicholls says. “The bills are becoming basically so exorbitantly high that it’s almost cost prohibitive for people to be able to pay them, and they have to decide whether to heat or to eat.”
Nicholls says that while the provincial government has committed to reducing electricity costs by 8% in the new year, they also took away a 10% reduction about a year ago.
Nicholls says increasing energy costs are negatively affecting Chatham-Kent residents and businesses.
