Construction on McNaughton Avenue and Murray Street in Wallaceburg is expected to get underway in the next few months.
As part of the Connecting Links program, which gives municipalities money to fix roads that are part of provincial highways, the work was slated to start last year.
Adam Sullo, the municipality’s Director of Engineering, says construction has moved to this spring.
“We didn’t want any open excavations or we didn’t want any roads left as gravel over the winter, so that was a stipulation that we had,” Sullo explains. “Based on those stipulation, the contractor decided to wait until 2017. We’ll have a construction start-up meeting in March, and we’re anticipating they’ll be on site somewhere between mid-April and early May.”
Sullo says the work should be done by July.
The roads will remain open to traffic, however some congestion is expected.
