Local conservationists are warning residents to steer clear of local waterways.
With as much as 50 mm of rain in the last few days and more on the way later this week, Girish Sankar with the St Clair Region Conservation Authority says levels on the Sydenham and its tributaries are on the rise.
“We are seeing that the local water courses are getting high. The flood planes are inundated and more than anything the ground is saturated, says Sankar. “Whatever is going to come in the next couple of days and the forecast is calling for 20-40 mm of rain which would quickly getting into the rivers and rising the water levels.”
Sankar says any flooding is expected to be fairly minor, but residents should keep away from the rivers to avoid slippery banks and fast moving water.
