The St Clair Catholic District School Board is warning parents about a controversial show on Netflix.
The English Catholic Board is lending its voice to growing backlash against the popular show “13 Reasons Why.”
The series, which is based on a book of the same name, focuses on a young girl who commits suicide.
A letter sent home with some students this week warns that shows like “13 Reasons” can lead to misconceptions and misinformation about suicide, and could potentially lead to so-called “suicide contagion.”
Parents are urged to talk to their children about mental health issues and the importance of seeking support when necessary.
