CKHA Gets Funding Boost

ckha-mental-healthThe Chatham-Kent Health alliance is in line for an increase in provincial funding to help reduce wait times and increase access to services.

Ralph Ganter, CEO of the Erie St Clair LHIN says the money will help give patients better access to care closer to home.

“A fair amount of it is for some very specialty items, ” says Ganter. “They’ve also had some increase in base and they’ve received some dollars that recognizes performance in the ER departments. Certainly it helps with some cost pressures that they have a provide services to the area.”

The extra funding totals just over $2.2-million, part of a 3.1% increase in hospital funding announced in the provincial budget.
