Fleet Upgrades to be Considered

Chatham-Kent is considering spending a shade less than $4-million this year and dip into next year’s budget to purchase 36 municipal vehicles, including seven fire trucks. civic-centre-chatham-300x225

In this year’s fleet lifecycle budget there’s enough cash to cover 33 vehicles, but staff is recommending an additional two tanker trucks and a pumper truck for stations in Bothwell, Raleigh and Ridgetown.

Doing that will allow for a better price point on all the fire vehicles, and the vehicles won’t be delivered until next year anyway.

Along with the firefighting equipment, the list is made up of trucks, vans and SUVs along with plow trucks, road graders and mowing equipment.

Council will decide the matter on Monday.
