A local running club is helping to support student athletes.
Mark Childs with the Defiance Running Club says the group’s Running for Reading pilot project was a huge success.
“H.W Burgess did 695km Wallaceburg Christian School did 1,360 and Christ the King rocked it at 3,925,” says Childs. “So we rounded it up a bit and H.W. Burgess will get 250, Wallaceburg Christian will receive $500 and Christ the King gets $1,250
Through the program, students earn 25 cents for each kilometre they ran, with proceeds going to purchase books for the school.
Childs says they hope to expand the program to more schools next year.
