Chatham-Kent’s Mayor is returning from a three day trip to the annual Select USA Conference south of the border, trying to find investment interest in CK.
“A lot of international companies are here, and we’re here doing our part to say it’s better to come to Chatham-Kent,” Randy Hope says. “There’s a number of companies both from the agricultural industry, the manufacturing industry, every targeted group that we’re after.”
The Mayor says while Canada is still on the radar of U.S. companies, but the atmosphere has changed from previous years.
“Sad to say that even through we’re about four blocks away from the capital, (US President Donald) Trump hasn’t even appeared,” Hope says. “In the last two years, Obama was here, spoke to the delegation, so I don’t know what the sentiments of the investing group are.”
The three-day event, which municipal officials have attended in the past, attracts hundreds of investors and companies from around the world.
