CKHA Defends Staff Cuts

ckha-mental-healthPlans to recover the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s finances involve some staff cuts, but the plan wasn’t created overnight.

Supervisor Rob Devitt says a lot of people worked on it.

“They’ve arrived here having had two separate external consultations look at areas and opportunity for us to improve as well we brought in two health care leaders from outside Chatham-Kent to sort of co chair the working groups so we’ve had a lot of expertise looking at this and I think it’s a very doable plan and the beginning of a new culture of being accountable and a focus of always improving quality as well as value for the taxpayer.”

The CKHA will be cutting 38 positions from departments that are over staffed, in order to become more efficient.
