Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope is calling on the MOECC to step up and get involved in the ongoing water wells issue.

In a letter sent to the Minister of the MOECC, Hope states that conflicting information, turbidity, sediment, and a lack of public statements and investigation by MOECC officials have made the situation untenable.

The mayor goes on to request an immediate intervention and for the ministry to assume a leadership role, adding that under the Green Energy Act, Chatham-Kent doesn’t have the legal authority to intervene in the construction or operation of wind farms or to determine the environmental effects.
