Chatham-Kent Police are charging a man after he assaulted a police officer.
Authorities say yesterday afternoon, police spotted the man riding a stolen BMX bicycle.
They tried to stop him, but he went through a nearby backyard. The officer caught him and began to place him under arrest, but the man broke free and struck the officer.
The 28-year-old Chatham man is facing charges of possession of stolen property, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest.
