Increased water usage means a better bottom line for the Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission.

Total water usage in 2016 increased by about 6% over 2015, while waste water usage was up 3.3%.

More than $600,000 was collected in connection charges last year.

Total PUC debt sits at $53-million and is being paid off at about $4.5-million a year. They project that it will be down to $24-million by the end of 2021.

The Chatham-Kent PUC released their 2016 financial statements last week.
