The blaze at Church’s Army and Outdoor Military Surplus broke out around 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses say there were a pair of loud explosions shortly before flames could be seen coming from the building.

It’s not believed anyone was hurt.

Officials are asking anyone living in the area of Thames Street to stay out of the smoke, which may be toxic.

Those inside their homes are urged to close all windows and shut off their HVAC systems.

The public is also asked to avoid the area due to the amount of smoke and to keep the roads clear for emergency vehicles.

The area is expected to remain blocked off for some time.

We’ll have more on this developing story as it becomes available.
