Hep A Scare in Algonac

Local residents who’ve visited the Algonac Flaming Grill may want to take note.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is looking to speak anyone who went to the restaurant between October 6th and the 20th about a possible Hepatitis A exposure.

According to the World Health Organization, The hepatitis A virus is transmitted through ingestion of contaminated food and water or through direct contact with an infectious person.

A statement on the restaurant’s Facebook account says a new staff member was diagnosed with the liver disease earlier this month, but had no contact with the kitchen or food.

Symptoms of Hepatitis A include fever, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, and yellowing of the skin and eyes.
