It’s 30 years strong for MADD Canada’s Project Red Ribbon.
The annual campaign aims to promote sober driving during the holidays.
Spokesperson Janine Carr says they’re also installing benches downtown.
“Through fundraising efforts of our small group, we wanted to have benches in the city for people to be able to sit and reflect on lost loved ones or family members,” Carr says.
The benches are located in front of the Capitol Theatre on King Street. “You drive by on a show night,” Carr explains, “there’s elderly people, there’s other people, it seemed a fitting place in the downtown core.”
The campaign runs through January 8th.
To help mark the 30th anniversary, car decals featuring the “drive sober” message will be available, along with the traditional red ribbons.
