Say Goodbye to the Ethanol Plume

Two Chatham-Kent businesses are getting ready to go live with their new partnership.

Next week, Greenfield Global will begin transferring its excess water vapour – the plume that can be seen coming from their plant – to Truly Green across the road.

Angelo Ligori, Senior Advisor to Greenfield Global, says Chatham-Kent residents will notice the change right away.

“The biggest change is the plume that everybody talks about, they’ve seen on the 401, it’s been a marker here for 20 years,” Ligori says. “We’ll see probably a little bit of a wisp, but all the water that’s in the steam will be condensed and that will be used to heat the greenhouse.”

Ligori says this partnership has been in the works since 2010, and will cut Truly Green’s energy costs by 50%.
