Officials with the Lambton Kent District School Board are calling a recent raking of schools across Ontario a bit one-sided.
Heather Hughes says this week’s Fraser Institute Report Card of elementary schools doesn’t carry a lot of weight.
“We certainly take a look at the report, but we don’t consider the Fraser Institute Report when we’re making any kind of board decisions,” Hughes says. “We are mainly focused on our individual schools, their improvement plans, as well as we take into consideration the EQAO assessments and the information that’s provided by the Ministry.
Hughes says comparing one school against another can be demoralizing for students and parents.
She says public school principals use data from a five-year period to judge each individual school by its own merits.
