Seven-year-old Ronny Betterley passed away on Monday, 10 months after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Better known as “Tuukka” to his friends, Betterley suffered from DIPG, or Diffuse Intrinsic Pontline Glioma, a form of brain cancer.

The family released an official statement on Ronny’s Facebook page Monday night, saying “Ronny was a fighter and fought to the end. We truly believe that DIPG did not beat Ronny, Ronny kicked its’ butt; ROYALLY. We are heart broken but we so grateful that he went quickly and was comfortable and peaceful compare to what some DIPG children have received. Ronny was surrounded by family and was loved very much as he passed.”

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Congregational Church i Chatham at 1pm on Saturday.

Donations made in memory of Ronny to Child Can, Children’s Wish Foundation, or Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated.
