The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating a blaze that happened last night at Ridgetown’s Public Works Garage.
Director of Public Works Miguel Pelletier says the damage is estimated at over $1,000,000.
“There were 6 plows in there, which is about 10% of our plows [in Chatham-Kent]. We are able to make do and maintaining winter control services. We’ll be shuffling around plows from the 9 other garages, so we can maintain the [snow removal] service in the meantime”, says Pelletier.
Pelletier says the fire appears to have been caused by one of the vehicles, but the investigation is ongoing.
