Fraud Doesn’t Pay

A Wheatley man found himself behind bars over the long weekend, accused of trying to “return” an item he didn’t buy.

Chatham-Kent Police were called to the Chatham Walmart store yesterday afternoon – officials say the 25-year-old was trying to use a receipt from the Wallaceburg store to get a refund for a truck cover he’d just picked off the shelf from the automotive department.

Police say the truck cover was worth about $70.

The accused is now facing fraud charges.
