Plans are in the works for a gala next month to celebrate local food.

The 21st annual Taste of Lambton-Kent fundraising dinner and auction is being held April 6th at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus.

Spokesperson Judy Krall says proceeds from the event support agricultural education in local schools.

“One of the initiatives it supports that takes place at the Ridgetown Campus is Harvest Days, it’s an ag program for grade three students,” Krall says. “Students climb onto a wagon, they play Eye Spy Agriculture around the campus, they visit the dairy barn where they do a day in the life of a diary farmer, and we do a soil session with the students as well”

The evening, which includes a six-course meal featuring local pork, begins with a social hour starting at 6pm, followed by dinner at 7.
