The Chatham-Kent branch of the Cancer Society is gearing up for its biggest fundraiser of the year.
Community Fundraising Specialist Darcy Derbecker says this year’s Relay for Life will be held June 22nd at the Chatham-Kent Athletic Complex in Chatham.
“Participants have the opportunity to win prizes such as gift cards, oil changes, oil care packages, and the grand prize which is sponsored by YourTv,” says Derbecker.
Last year’s event raised over $80,000. Derbecker says all money raised goes toward cancer-related causes.
“Money raised at Relay for Life goes toward life-saving cancer research, as well as support services for the Chatham-Kent Community Office, such as our Wheels of Hope Transportation service which provides rides to Chatham-Kent residents to and from their cancer-related appointments. We offer free wigs at our office, all kinds of information for those struggling with cancer,” Derbecker says.
New this year is a Road to Relay contest for fundraisers.
Online registration is now open.
