With gale force winds expected today, the Lower Thames Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the Lake Erie shoreline.
Environment Canada is calling for wind gusts as high as 85 km/hr in the area this afternoon with wave heights near two metres.
Officials with the LTVCA say strong waves could damage shoreline protection and cause further erosion.
There’s also the risk of localized flooding.
Should Erie Shore Drive have to be closed, municipal officials have said they will reopen Erieau Road, which is currently under construction.
