Water Well Issues Gaining Support

Two more parties running in the upcoming provincial election are showing their support for local well water problems.

Water Wells First spokesman Kevin Jakubec displays contaminated water from eight properties around the North Kent Wind project site.

Following a short visit in Wallaceburg several weeks ago, Ontario PC leader Doug Ford says he’s committed to launching a health hazard investigation into local well water issues, if elected this June.

Ford sent a written statement to Water Wells First spokesperson Kevin Jakubec on Saturday.

“I commit myself and the PC Party of Ontario to stopping this travesty and commit that a full health hazard investigation is conducted in North Chatham-Kent so that the full extent of the health risks and the number of families affected is known,” Ford says.

The Trillium Party of Ontario is also lending its support to the issue.

“Well water contamination is an extraordinarily serious concern and the Trillium Party of Ontario is fully supporting a thorough investigation into the health damage wind turbines are having on well water throughout the province,” says Trillium Party leader Bob Yaciuk. “This investigation is far overdue and should be initiated immediately.”

The NDP and the Green Party have also shown their support.

Meantime, Water Wells First says they will continue to demand that the Liberal government stop the REA permitting process for the Otter Creek Wind Farm.
