Organizers are gearing up for next fall’s Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling, coming to the Thames Campus Arena in Chatham September 26-30th.
A special launch party was held at the Sons of Kent on Thursday, with Olympic gold medalist and 18 time Grand Slam champion Kevin Martin.
“At the end of last season, the Olympics ended in February finishing the year off, but then all the changing happened of all the different teams,” Martin says. “It’ll be neat to watch, and the first time to see it will be here.”
The tournament will include the top 10 men’s and women’s teams from around the world.
“It’ll be fantastic for the community, and also there are quite a few curling clubs in the area, so it’s great for them as well to get involved with these players” Martin says.
The tournament will also feature the Pinty’s Lounge, where ticket-holders can mingle with the curlers.
The entire event will be show on TV on Sportsnet and streamed online on Sportsnet Now, with over 27 hours of live broadcast.
Tickets for the Grand Slam are over 60% sold.
