Live music is returning to downtown Wallaceburg this summer.
The Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts has a full line-up of artists for the season, including Jay Allan, The Down River Band, The Moondog Howlers, and several others.
The first event takes place Tuesday, June 12 in the evening in Library Park, and will continue every Tuesday night until August 14th.
“The support and attendance the series attracted in our first year was unbelievable,” said Arts Council President Dave Elliott. “To keep the series running was a no brainer. We hope to continue to grow the series, to cultivate a passion for music and the arts locally and to be a part of a long standing tradition in Wallaceburg for years down the road.”
The Co-Operators has signed on as the title sponsor, with a $2,500 contribution.
The Council was also awarded a $5,000 grant through the Municipality’s Community Partnership Fund, recently approved by Chatham-Kent Council.
The events are free to attend. Organizers say those attending will be asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket. On site barbecues, draws and giveaways are expected to be a part of the weekly festivities. Bug spray is encouraged.
The series also attracts local boaters, kayakers and canoes, with the live music setting on the banks of the Sydenham River.
