The vehicle for hire debate returns to Chatham-Kent council on Monday night.
In a report from staff, a total rework of the bylaw is being proposed.
That includes dumping the regulations surrounding taxi fee structures imposed by the municipality, removing the requirement for a dispatch service for taxi companies, and generally leveling the playing field for traditional companies and for upstarts like Uber.
A new few structure is being proposed to help cover the costs of licensing owners and drivers of vehicles for hire, which any driver, Uber or otherwise, will need to pay annually.
