The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is looking to the future.

Officials unveiled a new three-year strategic plan for the hospitals in Chatham and Wallaceburg, and CEO Lori Marshall says they relied heavily on feedback from the public, and will continue to do so on an annual basis.

“We’ll be reporting out to everyone about what we’ve been able to do, identify the things where maybe we’ve struggled or haven’t been able to quite move ahead, find out what’s changed,” Marshall explains. “We’ve set out something that charts our course, but we need to be flexible enough to make changes in the event that something causes us to go in a different direction.”

Marshall says they’re also looking to create a healthier environment for staff, both nutritionally, physically, and spiritually.

“The hospital staff and physicians are a significant portion of our community with their families,” she explains. “If we can make a difference on our own health and well-being within the organization, hopefully that will have a positive impact elsewhere.”

CKHA officials paid tribute to the past as they launched the strategic plan, planting a tri-coloured beech tree at each of the Wallaceburg and Chatham sites, honouring the three founding sites, SDH, PGH, and St Joseph’s Hospital.
