There will be a ground breaking for the new casino in Chatham later this week.
Mayor Randy Hope and executives from Gateway will be on hand at 10 o’clock on Thursday morning to turn over a pile of dirt at the Richmond Street site.
Council approved the $36 million casino back in April.
It is a big one, 45,000 square feet with slots and tables and two restaurants.
The new Cascades casino is expected to create about 200 new jobs.
The casino in Dresden will remain open during construction with the opening expected the middle of next year.
