Powers Believes Council Meetings Should Be All Over CK

A fourth person has put their name forward to run for Mayor of Chatham-Kent.

Robert Salvatore Powers is from Chatham, and says that he’s focused on making municipal government more accessible in Chatham-Kent.

“This is pretty big for me. I don’t know yet if this is a good idea or not, but I want to take Chatham council sittings and take them out into the greater Chatham-Kent community. I want to have council sitting in Wallaceburg, Ridgetown, Dresden, Tilbury – all over Chatham-Kent, because Chatham-Kent is the best place to be,” says Powers.

One of the main issues he’d like to focus on is municipal policing services.

“I want the Chatham-Kent Police Service to know that I stand behind them one hundred percent. Whats happening in other municipalities will never happen here. We are always going to have our own hometown police – Chatham-Kent Police Service. I just want them to know that. That’s a big issue for me,” Powers explains.

Powers says he has a Masters in Political Science and a Masters of Public Policy, with employment experience at Gateway Casinos and Canada Post.
