For the first time WAMBO is welcoming in a pair of youth ambassadors to help promote the big event.
This year’s winners are two graduating students from WDSS, Miria Pelletier and Brock Yazbeck.
“We’ll be around WAMBO weekend, talking to everybody and participating in different events,” Pelletier says. “We just want to get the youth involved in WAMBO, and get out and see everybody.
Each won a $1500 bursary to help with their post-secondary education.
“To win the bursary, we had to do an essay and a long application, and we were lucky enough to get chosen,” Yazbeck explains.
The essay portion outlined their volunteer work in the community, and the benefits of volunteering.
The applications and essays were reviewed by an independent selection committee, unrelated to WAMBO’s Directors and Committee members, and their choices then submitted to the Board of Directors for publication.
