Candidates Tour with the United Way

Some local residents and municipal candidates are learning more about what the United Way does in Chatham-Kent.

The United Way’s Seeing is Believing Tour, Sept 26, 2018.

Councillor Brock McGregor was one of 12 candidates who went on the Seeing is Believing Tour yesterday, and says it’s was a great learning experience.

“The message to me is that there’s so much great work going on, we’ve got tremendous not for profits operating in the community, we’ve got this great group of volunteers that really are doing the work that matters in our community and it’s important that we’re able to recognize them and making sure they’re supported in the ways they need to be supported.”

The United Way’s Director of Resource Development is thrilled with the turnout for yesterday’s event.

“We got to see the people who do the work in this community and we all got to meet some of the people who get the assistance and spend some time with them,” Slager says. “I think a lot of the candidates got to see some of the issues and talk to some of the people that are going to be affected by the decisions they’re going to have to make.”

The tour stopped at several agencies across Chatham-Kent that the United Way supports, including the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre, and the New Beginnings ABI & Stroke Recovery Association .
